Table Advice Needed

I really like my living room.  It's cozy.  I like cozy. You can see the tour here.  But lately I've been thinking it really needs some more color, since everything just seems to mesh together.

I'm thinking about the painting the table.  I love it, but I think it might be one of the easiest (and least expensive) ways to add some color.

What do you think?  I thought about just bringing it down a few shades to a lighter off-white.  Then I was thinking about yellow.  I've had this picture from Liz Marie pinned for awhile....

I also thought about the Colonial Red color that I used on this chair a little while ago....

So, fellow DIYers, what is your advice?  I'd love to hear if you would paint the table, and if so....what color?  I'd also love to hear some of your other ideas for livening up the space (I am planning on putting some kind of plant in that 7up crate, and I will probably make some new pillows or a blanket for the couch).  Let me know what you think!!

  1. I'm going to vote for red on the coffee table! Then maybe add some red and yellow accent colors. Pillows maybe? Either way, I'm sure you'll make it cute. I'm like you, I love cozy too! :)

  2. My vote is for red, too. You don't have a whole lot of yellow in the room to draw out, but you do have a lot of red that you can pick up. Although, painting the wall instead of the table is an option, too, in which case I would choose yellow for the wall. :) That would make the couch stand away from the wall more.

  3. Add another vote for red! Something that brings together the poppy painting and the flowers in the rug.

  4. yes Red ! But now the same tone as the other chair. A deeper red. and just on the legs and skirt of the table. Leave the top of the table natural or stain it a bit darker.

  5. Yes. I thought red before I even read down to the colors that you were considering. It would really make the picture over the couch and the flowers in the rug POP! But then I am a total "plain jane" who would be afraid to do such a thing to anything wooden!!!! :)

  6. Red would be fine but my first choice would be an aqua shade for the table. Play the reds & oranges with fabric on the couch. That little side table would be cute painted, maybe yellows, reds 7 combinations. You have a very neutral start here. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

  7. My vote is for red because it pulls alot of color from the picture above the couch and would look nice with the couch as well. You can always add yellow with pillows or some accent decor.

  8. I thought red before I even saw the color pics below...would look great red with a little antique or roughed up finish IMHO ;-)

  9. So, I am just now seeing this, but I would vote red. I also think you need to pull yellow into the room. There is a touch of yellow in the painting, and it could really mess well with the olvies undertones in the couch and the walls. I am thinking pillows, or maybe some cutesy decoraty things. I am big big big into yellow right now. But, I think it's a good color for year round entertaining. I am curious what you ended up doing. :)
